Is cheap always better & how to find a reliable contractor

Being in the construction business for years, we’ve truly seen it all, especially when it comes to docks in Freeport. From quick fixes that don’t last a single season to outright dangerous builds, poor workmanship shows itself fast in a harsh salt water environment like ours.

We’ve come across deck boards fastened with drywall screws instead of S.S marine-grade screws causing the boards to loosen, and rot prematurely. Over time, these boards pull free from the stringers, creating trip hazards or just snapping entirely

We’ve also seen undersized or mismatched stringers secured with regular steel bolts instead of properly rated fasteners. The result? Corrosion, snapped bolts, stringers breaking loose from pilings, and entire sections of dock left hanging—or worse, collapsing when you least expect it. These are shortcuts that may save money upfront but cost far more in repairs, downtime, and safety risks later on.
The saddest reality out of all of this is most clients pay for quality expecting this companies or subcontractors to deliver only to be left with a hefty repair bill for and dock in shambles because the contractor pocket all of the money.
Some clients knowingly decide to take the cheap route to get quick canal access only to discover their investment is short lived.

We don’t believe in this because we know its a lose - lose situation.

 For both parties involve, this route is a loss. For the client a lost in investment, trust for future projects and canal accessibility. For the company / subcontractor they lost their reputation which translate into future projects & potential clients. They also loss capital because they're responsible for the repair.
